Welcome, Pano Savvidis

We’re delighted to welcome our newest member of the WMG team, Pano!

With 5 years’ digital marketing experience under his belt, and a MSc in Marketing, Pano is joining us as Linkbuilder. After living in a small town called Katerini in Greece where he studied Marketing and Advertising at a University in Thessaloniki, he moved to the UK in 2011 and continued his studies to Masters level at Leeds Met University.

We went on a fact-finding mission to find out what our new face around the office was all about… and we were fascinated by what we discovered…

What is your favourite hobby?

I love travelling! I was fortunate to visit many destinations in North, Central and South America, as well as the Middle East and Europe. I intend to travel to even more locations in the future as I love discovering different cultures, realities and types of nature. I believe that we are able to appreciate our own life and environment better after such experiences. Below is my TripAdvisor map. Ideally, I would like to take a road trip in either South Africa or Australia next.

What are your predictions for the biggest industry changes in 2014?

I think that Real-Time Bidding for online adverts through paid media will see a dramatic increase during this year. This will enable advertisers to target specific audiences all over the internet by dealing with each advertising opportunity on a page impression basis. It will also minimize the need for expensive and unreliable human ad buyers.

What do you do here at WMG?

My daily goal is to earn as many natural, good quality links as possible. Searching for great websites, creating content and promoting are some of my tasks. After Google updates, like Panda and Penguin, content strategy is the foundation of any good SEO campaign.

I also use a host of effective tactics to make sure my clients are getting the best links. I’m often contacting journalists and webmasters to pitch my content ideas, which are useful for their websites.

Can you give away any of your secrets?

I’m afraid there are no secrets. It’s all about using the right tools and being persistent. For example, I use my client’s resources such as interactive infographics, or create my own, to promote them to high quality websites.

If Link Building was over tomorrow, what would you do?

Something marketing related. I chose to do SEO because I love marketing, that’s the reason I have done a Masters in this area. I also love the Internet! It’s the perfect match for me.

What are the best tools you use in your day-to-day job?

Google! I also use the Mozbar, Page Rank, Google alerts, social media and many others.

Who’s your favourite brand?

Abercrombie and Fitch, definitely! I studied them in my PR and SEO module during my masters. They inspired me to become a digital marketer.

What is your greatest achievement?

As a student, I wrote an article about political advertising in the USA for an international conference, which was published in an international journal. That was a pretty proud moment.

What’s your favourite quote?

“We are what we repeatedly do; excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
– Aristotle
